Sarah Belle Reid is an experimental performer-composer who plays trumpet, modular synthesizer, and an ever-growing collection of handcrafted electronic instruments.

In 2013–14, Reid played trumpet in legendary jazz bassist Charlie Haden's band while pursuing graduate studies at Calarts. Haden asked her to solo on one of the songs, expressing that he didn't care about the "right" notes or chord changes, but was only interested in hearing her voice. This simple moment marked a turning point in Reid's creative practice, inspiring her to always strive to be true to her own unique musical voice. Sarah carries this spirit into every improvisation, collaboration, and project she does, including her debut solo trumpet and electronics album Underneath and Sonder, which will be released on October 18th on pfMENTUM.
